ARTIST IN RESIDENCE 2024

Zineb Sedira (born 1963, Paris) is a Franco-Algerian photographer and video-artist based in London, working between Paris, Algiers, and London. Through her art she explores the human relationship to geography. Her work frequently engages with personal and collective histories, particularly in relation to Algeria and the Mediterranean. Sedira has exhibited internationally, including solo shows at Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Jeu de Paume (Paris), Sharjah Art Foundation, and the French Pavilion at the 59th Venice Biennale (2022). Her work is held in major collections such as the Centre Pompidou, Tate, and the Sharjah Art Museum. Informed by her own transnational experiences, Sedira’s practice navigates the intersections of language, heritage, and displacement, often using storytelling as a means of resistance and preservation. Zineb Sedira, who was Artist in Residence at the Käte Hamburger Kolleg CURE in 2024, is featured in the exhibition THE TRUE SIZE OF AFRICA at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Völklinger Hütte with her work Standing Here Wondering Which Way to Go (2019).
