PROGRAMME
As part of her artist in residence fellowship, Annie Lulu is exploring the concept of reparations through a previously unexamined lens: that of mourning. Her project draws on both the core of thanatological disciplines – in all their technical depth – and francophone modernist literature. In the workshop, the Congolese-Romanian writer will present a talk examining irreparability in literary texts through the lens of loss and mourning, focusing on a selection of poems by Aimé Césaire, Benjamin Fondane, Zéno Bianu, Derek Walcott, Nelly Sachs, and Sabine Huynh. The presentation will open a discussion of mourning in psychology, victimology, and thanatological studies – with conceptual tools shared with participants – alongside reparative processes in the domains of law, culture, postcolonialism, collective memory, environment, and finance.
