PROGRAMME

A workshop entitled “Breaking Away: Figurations, Foundations, Methods, and Theories” will take place on 13 and 14 November on the campus of Saarland University.

It is organised by Anne-Sophie Donnarieix, professor of French literature in the European context and head of the Saarbrücken Institut d’Études Françaises, together with CURE programme director Hannah Steurer. The workshop is part of a research network which the two are currently establishing. It examines the topos of setting out or departure – and of disrupting established orders – in modern literatures, treating narrative texts as collective documents of departure and new beginnings, not least in contexts of flight and exile. The project brings together German and French scholars from a range of humanities disciplines. CURE programme director Julien Jeusette is also participating in the project.
