After completing an undergraduate programme in law with a focus on French at the University of Passau, Sebastian Rost studied French and history (BA) at the University of Konstanz, followed by a dual master’s in the programme “Intercultural Studies: Germany and France” offered by Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg and University of Lyon 2. Prior to his position as managing director of the KHK CURE, he worked at the Franco-German University (DFH) from 2017 to 2023, eventually serving as the lead for strategic projects and interim head of the unit responsible for steering committees and research projects. In this capacity, he initiated and managed Franco-German collaborations focused on sustainability, digital transformation, and European integration, in addition to organizing the meetings of relevant committees and other bodies. He was also the coordinator of the degree programme “Franco-German Studies: Cross-Border Communication and Cooperation” and a lecturer at Saarland University from September 2019 to April 2022.

- French-German Tech Lab at the international start-up and technology fair VivaTechnology (2018–2023) in cooperation with German and French universities from the DFH network as well as the French-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
- German-French Sustainability Dialogue in cooperation with the ASKO Europa Foundation (2021 and 2023).
- Student debate series “Utopia Europe” in cooperation with the Institut français Germany (2017–2023).
