Adelina Stefan est historienne du tourisme et de la consommation de la période de la Guerre froide, avec un intérêt particulier pour la Roumanie communiste et l’Espagne franquiste. Elle a obtenu son PhD en histoire à l’université de Pittsburgh aux États-Unis. Elle a été résidente « Humanities Initiative » à l’institut d’études avancées de la Central European University de Budapest et travaille à l’institut universitaire européen de Florence et au centre d’Histoire contemporaine et digitale de l’université du Luxembourg. En décembre 2024 a paru sa monographie Vacationing in Dictatorships : International Tourism in Socialist Romania and Franco’s Spain [Partir en vacances en dictature : le tourisme international en Roumanie communiste et dans l’Espagne franquiste] (Cornell University Press).
